The Arizona Department of Public safety is trying to determine the validity of a video showing a man driving more than 200 miles per hour in a Lamborghini on Loop 202.
The video, which has been making rounds on the internet, claims the man reached a top speed of 219 miles per hour.
The video has appeared on both individual websites and on the popular video sharing site, YouTube.com.
DPS has confirmed there’s a criminal investigation underway to determine the authenticity of the video.
То есть, полиция ведет расследование по поводу этого видео и если чувака найдут, мало ему не покажеться.
Суть претензий к нему вполне очевидна:
Only a fool would explore the car's outer performance limits on public roadways, however. That's best saved for a closed course, and if you can afford an LP640, you should be able to buy yourself some track time to see what it can really do.
The driver (and owner?) of the car in the video above was apparently too foolish to do that, and embarked on a quest to set the "world speed record" for an LP640 on Arizona public highways. Sure, the sound the car makes as it flies past static camera points at some 200 mph is nothing short of incredible, but the act itself is disturbing, because no matter how late at night this film was taken, there are other drivers out, and at 200 miles per hour, the margin for error is exactly zero. Make a mistake, and people are going to die.
....
We don't know what the sanctioning body for this particular "world speed record" is -- the National Council of Imbeciles, perhaps? In any case, we recommend you don't try to beat it. At least not like these clowns, who put unwitting drivers on a public road at risk just so they could stroke their own egos.
Кстати, по этому поводу нашелся интересный сайтец (опять таки, для тех, кто читает по английски) - Dumb Criminals. Пару выдержек с него:
Медведь угнал машину.
According to Ananova, a bear stole a car.
The car was stolen in New Jersey where police confirmed the species that stole the car was in fact a bear.
They determined that because of all the hair they found in the car when they recovered the stolen car, which had been stolen by a bear.
The bear was probably attracted by some kind of food in the car but for some reason decided to steal it making it the first time in the state that a bear has stolen a car. Repeat, a bear has stolen a car.
Чувак заявил полиции о том, что у него украли 150 фунтов (~70 килограмм!!!) марихуаны.
The man reportedly told police two masked gunman stole 150 pounds of his marijuana. Police have been combing the Baskin-Robbins for their whereabouts ever since.
Police arrived and found approximately 15 pounds of leftover marijuana on the floor. He reportedly told police the drugs were his, which a police officer told the AP was “not the smartest move.” If you’ve got 150 pounds of marijuana at your disposal, smart and move aren’t in your vocabulary to begin with.
